First Sporting Festival in Las GalerasTo develop activities of community integration

BREAKING NEWS:The Secretariat of Tourism, the National Council of Drugs and the Municipal Town hall of Las Galeras carried out the First Sporting and Entertaining Festival, in order to occupy the spirits of the young people of this community.

Elsa de León, under-secretary of Tourism for the North-eastern area, said that more than 800 young students of the basic school of Las Galeras took part in this activity.

Hundreds of citizens joined the students who paraded in the streets of this community, from Playa Grande to the « play », with signs carrying of messages such as sport is health, it trains body and spirit, and like your fatherland and yourself free of drugs.

The activity could be realized thanks to the support of the Grand Paradise Amhsa Marina and Villa Serena hotels; of the Development Association of Las Galeras, the Church Asamblea de Dios and of the Church of Prophecy.

Elsa de León thanked for their efforts the institutions which integrated this First Entertaining and Sporting Festival directed by Sectur, and she encouraged the young people to practice sporting disciplines and healthy activities which move away from the defects and the drug addiction.

During this activity, blessed by Pasteur Gregorio Williams, the mayor of Las Galeras, Rafael Bello and Professor Antonio Peña, on behalf of the president of the National Council of Drugs, Mabel Feliz Báez, also expressed themselves.

This First Sporting and Entertaining Festival « No to the Drugs » belongs to the plans set up in this tourist area by the Security and Tourism Commission composed by Sectur, the National Police Force, the National Office of Drugs Control, the National Council of Drugs and the Tourist Police (Politur).

POLITUR carries out a medical operation in the Province of SamanáCivic action in Las Galeras

LAS GALERAS, Samaná. - The head office of the Police of Tourism (POLITUR) carried out a medical operation in the municipal sector of Las Galeras and in the commune of Las Terrenas, where hundreds of patients were seen and who received for free the drugs requested.

After having supervised the two programs of this social action, the director of POLITUR explained that this operation was concluded with the support of the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces and that it belonged to the plans carried out by this specialized police force, in order to help the municipalities of the neighborhoods of the tourist poles.

Brigadier general Henry Gómez Bueno declared that they want to put this institution at the service of the surrounding communities of the tourist areas and in this manner, contributing of the fact that the inhabitants have a better quality of life.

In this way, the civil servant indicated that the program POLITUR to the Service of the Community had also carried out medical days in the tourist destinations of Bávaro, Boca Chica and in districts close to the Colonial Zone, in the Distrito Nacional.

At the end of this medical operation, the director of POLITUR met with representatives of the community, of professional and of work sectors of Samaná, in order to coordinate actions of safety and orientation for the national and foreigners’ tourists who visit this province.
