Used for illegal travelsBREAKING NEWS: The Navy dismantled in two months, fourteen places of clandestine construction of boats used for illegal travels to Puerto Rico, while it recovered several high-speed motorboats which had been stolen to their owners.
This information was offered by Vice-admiral Homero Luis Lajara Solá, chief of the institution, who published these declarations through his spokesperson, Captain Juan Pablo Sandoval García.
He specified that the clandestine factories of boats had been dismantled in rural areas and in the mountains of San Pedro de Macorís, Sabana de la Mar, Baoba del Piñal, Uvero Alto, Las Galeras, Samaná, Nagua, La Romana and in other places of the interior of the country.
We were relentless with these groups which, since they cannot manufacture boats any more are devoted now to the robbery of high-speed motorboats and small boats in tourist areas, situation that we also must face
, expressed Lajara Solá.
In the same way, he specified that the illegal boats confiscated during the operations carried out by the department of Intelligence M-2 directed by Admiral Edwin Dominici Rosario, had been incinerated on the spot of the seizures.

Repair of the access ways to the tourist polesBREAKING NEWS: The Secretary of Tourism is trustful in the fact that 2009 will close with positive data for the sector, and bases this appreciation on the fact that the world-wide crisis already started to move back.
What also contributes to the growth of flow
- adds Francisco Javier García- is the cohesion of the processes of the hotel sector and its alliance with the public sector.
This is a year full of hope, although during the first four months and especially in February and March, the tourist flow was weaker. In May, we started to notice recovery with 2.75 of growth
added García.
The civil servant defined tourism as the dynamo of the economy, this is why it must be protected
, he said.
And it is on this protection that he worked on since he took his functions a little bit more than one year ago. At this time
, he says, the situation of the infrastructures in the tourist poles was “alarming”, but the problems were solved.
Bávaro is an example of that: in this tourist commune par excellence we rebuilt all the roads. He quotes also the pending work like the repair of the access ways to the tourist poles like the roads of Las Galeras-Samaná-and Las Terrenas–Sánchez, the asphalting of the streets of Juan Dolio, repair of the streets and the walks in Boca Chica, among others.
